No experience but a tool store here was selling them, went in one day and all Metabo tools gone!
I asked and the dealer said that no sales, the tools cost then there counter parts and he couldn't sell them so sent them all back.
I'm curious as well.

I know a guy in Austin that tried selling Metabo and couldn't compete because of price.
His name wasnt Wetherford was it?
Thats the tool shop that I was refering to.
Thats the scoop that I got out of it, price was higher and couldnt compete with DW, PC....
I dont know, maybe they are better quality but some are only shopping price.
Doug
That's him. He's selling mostly Porter-Cable now.
Yep, and if he's a friend of yours could you try to convince him that he needs a damn computer for his business!
Every time I go in their he's out of something, that's how he knows when to order.
Course Pete would just screw it up so what's the use. <G>

Have you tried Otto Dukes in San Antonio or Corpus?"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms..."

You think I'm going to drive down to Corpus to buy a tool!
Never heard of Ottos. I'm leaning towards the Festool though so it probably doesnt matter but thanks.
Doug
You ought to check out that Otto Duke's in San Antonio. Near downtown at 600 San Pedro.
They handle all the Metabo stuff and Fien and Festool.
Had a pretty ggod display of the Metabo line.
Seemed to be well stocked.

I'll have to go down there and take a look, I like going down to San Antonio, this'll give me an excuse!

recently bought the Bosch 5412 slide. looked at the comparable Metabo, but it was about $100 more for a saw I knew nothing about.
BTW, I've been very happy with my Bosch.
I was in the market recently for another SCMS, just about the time Metabo came out with theirs.
Guy I know who is a tool buyer for a place here that sells all the brands, told me not to waste my money.
He claims Metabo is blatantly trying to leverage their brand reputation, farming out the manufacturing of the saw to China with cheap specs, then charging a premium price. He thought the saw was about on the same level as Ryobi, maybe even a little lower.
I don't know if he's right, but it was enough to make me buy a second Makita 1013.

I'll admit that I didnt run the tool but there is no way that its on the same level as the Ryobi.
I think your friend was just trying to sell some other brand.
Doug
Yeah, I know it sounds like that. But I buy almost all my tools from this place, and I have come to value his opinion, since he has never steered me wrong. And remember, he stocks the Metabo, along with virtually every other brand of saw.********************************************************

I guess I didn't mean to diss the guy, just that I cant believe that Matabo isn't made a bit better?
The tool shop that I go to always pushes the DW brand tools, wonder if there profit isn't higher on that brand then others.
I know damn well its not because any of them used the tool to know the diff. <G>

I looked at one and was suprised on the amount of head flex there was, 1/4"
My 10" Hitachi SCS is alot stiffer, thats my 2 cents
