metal and fiberglass ductwork

my hvac guy will install a new system with 8×12 trunk lined with fiberglass (hardened) on the inside, to reduce noise.

I never heard of this before and wonder if this sounds right and is commonly done. Any problems with  fiberglass airborne particles?
