How do you insulate a metal bldg. This bldg has a lot of welding, grinding, cutting torch etc. more of a metal mechanic shop than wood. so I need it fire proof or fire resisance. drywall, dont go there, it will not work. do not even think about drywall.

regular FG insulation. THen skin it with interior grade corrugated metal.

the interior grade metal im refering too looks just like metal roofing. Only the paint doesnt have the extensive UV protection. Most metal roofing suppliers can or stock this.
Inside, ask for second from your metal supplier. Take any color and any scratched stuff he has off his hands for half price. Heck, you're doing him a favor. <g>

I helped insulate a pole barn a couple years ago.
We put sheet metal inside the building running horizontally from pole to pole.
Then the guy hired an insulation contractor to come in and blow the space full of insulation.
Personally, I didn't think it was a good idea. But I was just hired help.

I've seen the sheet metal and blown insulation. It works pretty good. The metal isn't cheap though! Several times more than drywall. Why won't drywall work? Not damage resistant enough? There are some abuse resistant grades available. You could also skin over the drywall with some wood sheathing. CDX or OSB. You could even use a fire treated plywood and omit the drywall. There are also some very heavy grade cross linked poly vapor barriers that are available. These are also available in a fire rated grade.
