Okay folks, I’m looking for a little advice. I’m doing a small design project near Ann Arbor (a couple dozen single/double family retirement residences). Unfortunately, I live in Virginia and don’t know what the local “strong” lumber product is. Around here, we use Southern Yellow Pine for strong headers and floor joists – it’s much better than S-P-F (or “white-wood” if your a ID fan 😉
What do you guys use when you need something stronger than SPA that is still dimension lumber (not engineered products) Hem-Fir? SPY?
Thanks,
Jordan
