A good HVAC supplier is your friend.
Hey Woody.
I deal with the same stuff.
In fact, Tuesday I am running the duct behind wall.
I always, if possible, run behind the drywall with my duct and then when I install the microwave, open up the duct at the right spot, tape from inside around the drywall, etc and set the microwave.
I avoid running up thru the cabinet unless I have to.
With that said, I go to the local HVAC supply house and just get 3 1/4"x 10" length of pipe, drop it into place with an end cap and buy the correct fittings to get it to it's exit point.
It will have 1 more turn in it as the fan is rotated to the back and then goes up or down to it's exit (no one ever puts them on the exterior wall so I can go right out) and then to exterior.
Flow is fine and clients love not having the duct in the upper cabinet. (I always hated that)
