Just got a new Milwaukee Battery drill and boy is it neat. Dual speed, full torque adjustment, unbeliveable finess in the trigger speed control. The batteries slide onto the bottom in either direction unlike the into-the- handle like DeWalt. Charger cord wraps up under the charger. Made in Germany (Fesco?), batteries from Japan.
Only problem is that it sparks at the rear of the motor when the brake comes on. Since I will use it a lot for paddle mixing flamible liquids, I was concerened about possible ignition of fumes. So I held it over the gas range with the gas on while I cycled the drill. Nothing happened even with a lot of gas fumes. Any thoughts?

Bill, Leave the gas on a little longer next time and squeeze the trigger a few more times...you'll get it to light. I have the same problem sometimes with my propane torch and spark lighter!
*Bill, The drill you describe is made in Germany because Milwaukee bought out AEG a couple of years ago. While it is never a good idea to use such tools around volitile liquids (I hope you are not mixing acetone and gasoline with that thing) most flammable liquids will not ignite in the manner which you describe. It's always a good idea to be overly cautious though. Make sure you have adequate ventilation when mixing and always keep an extinguisher at hand.
*b TVMDCGordon, Thanks for the info on AEG. They make nice tools. I've never had the need to mix gas and acetone, only oil based paints and epoxies with fairly high VOC content. Thanks your all your input.
*Actually, Milwaukee is now a sister company to AEG and did not buy them. Truth is, Atlas Copco, a swedish conglomerate bought both companies. They bought Milwaukee in 1995. So, Milwaukee and AEG share some products. AEG sales a recip saw made by Milwaukee but the nylon handles are black instead of red.
*I just bought their new 14.4 1/2 drill, it has an all metal chuck, and is the best of the three or so cordless drills I have owned/used. And your right it is made in Germany.
