Finishing up siding a house someone else started and they used Miratec MDF corner boards for the trim and corner boards. I need 26 more 10′ crnr boards but the stock only comes in 16′ lengths?! Thats 130′ of waste since window trim is all done and im not splicing 6′ pcs for crnrs. What a waste almost 30%!Lowes does same thing with Screen Tite..sells only 8’s…and we needed a bunch of 5’s…40% waste.

I need 8- 6 ft pcs, I'll gladly take the drops off your hand. It's for a volunteer project, you'll get the write-off. You close to toledo?.....................I see you're in WV, darn.

ask Ruffmike for details...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
>> I need 26 more 10' crnr boards << That's quite a few corners. Must be a cut up house...
On the other hand that sounds like, linear footage wise, about 10 "boards" of waste. I get them for around $10 so that would be $100 worth of wasted material. Not an optimal situation, but compaired to what?... maybe $9k or $12k for a siding job... peanuts.
Good thing your not working with Azek... it comes in 18' lengths.
We have two Restore (construction material recycling stores that fund Habitat for Humanity projects) locations near us (Winona and Rochester, MN).
If I have stuff I tear out or have leftover (that I can't return), that may be useful--I donate it to Restore and get a write-off. Less to the landfill & more to Habitat.
This week they took two sinks and a countertop I removed. I also found some great old rosettes and plinth blocks there and some new windows.
We just had Habitat store open near here so that wood be a option.
Cut up is right...and thats just the rear face of the house with its two bump outs ; so with inside and outside crnrs it adds up fast.
Nail? Everything so far has been nailed with galv. spirals. This isnt going to turn into that thread about the brite commons that "infected "that guys house.
Its just the idea of having the waste shoved down ur throat by a company who I guess has only one form for its production.
