I know this has been asked a thousand times….what is the best miter saw out there? I have been leaning towards a 12” Bosch or Dewault.

WOW!!! What a Ride!
sounds a little narrow minded , I have a DeWalt 12in comp, and the DeWalt 12in slider and have had nothing but good running saws for years. nao I have 3 friends in building trades and all three have the Hatachi sliders and all 3 love theres and if I were in the market to buy one now I would look at these saws real close.
Now Bosch is a great brand and makes great tools and the older 12 in slider is a good saw but the new bosch with the up front features looks good but its new to the market and doesnt have any proven track record yet and Id rather see how the guys using them like them a year or so down the road so to speak.
another nice saw is the makita slider , many say good things about this tool also. a pritty safe bet.
id rather go by what guys have to say about there tools based on life experences.
keep an open mind. dogboy

my 12 inch dewalt just fried its commutator, doesnt work worth sh....t
any suggestions?, can the armature be changed easily?caulking is not a piece of trim
steve- is your dewalt an earlier model or a fairly recent one?
Reason I ask is I have an older 4 or 5 year old model that's great and the new ones feel different and seem a little chintzier.
Holy Cow!
Alright, but the next time I'm charging ya.
mines about 2 years oldcaulking is not a piece of trim
Now people think you're opinionated. What is the world coming to?
S'allright. The 4412 ain't that new. I'm a year into mine, and in that time have spent more on sharpening than I did on the saw. Tells you how much I use it. Every day. Love it. You're right about the DW. It does make a dandy anchor. "If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. Sorry IMERC but I've never had one minutes problem with my De Wa SCMS other than its weight and that retarded dust bag.
Been using it constantly for years. Even kept the blade guard on which is a first cause it actually lets you see what yer doin'.
Be well cut

DeWalt 12" dbl compound non- slider. Cuts 6½" baseboard standing up. Beauty. Speed. Love it.
I haven't bought both so I'm biased, having said that My Dewalt is now three years old and except for that worthless dust bag, perfect! I cut timbers on it and only needed to sharpen the blade a couple of times. (considering the wood I've cut (around 20,000 bd.ft. all of it hardwood, oak, walnut, etc) mine has been great!
Instantly get exactly the correct angle. and it's amazingly accurite.. I really do cut to the tenth of a degree with it. (all of my great room timbers are 54.4 degrees! makes a super neat joint)
The cuts are shiney smooth and finish ready.
I like the stand that DeWalt makes too! it holds a 18 foot long 6x6!
I don't know about Bosch but if I needed another I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Dewalt SCMS
I'm just a weekend warrior, but I bought the Porter-Cable 12" Laser and love it! Plenty of power, nice big table, very functional. Built my deck and lots of other stuff with it. They make the same thing under their Delta label.
I used my brother's 12" Dewalt miter saw over the weekend to help him build a set of stairs. I don't think it was their top of the line, but I wasn't all that impressed. especially compared to my P-C; didn't seem as tight or accurate.
That being said, Bosch really makes some nice stuff!

I have the Bosch (10" 4410) and we use it every day. We also have the 10" Hitachi right beside the Bosch. A couple of things that really stand out on the Bosch. (we had no need for a 12" saaw)
1) It has the ability to set the bevel at 47 degrees for a cut (it has a stop at 45 but you can flip it out of the way). What we use this to do is to overcut our baseboard because the corners are never square. Makes a world of difference in end product
2) You can lock out the positive stops. What this means is that you can fine- tune a miter setting by whatever is necessary. we use this feature for fine tuning miters on casing
3) It has very positive stops as compared to the Hitachi
I guess this doesn't compare the 2 saws side by side but does allow you to test if the DW has the same capability DEPENDING on YOUR needs. I spent quite a bit of time looking at features for most of the saws on the market- it just kept coming back to - what did WE want the saw to do for us. I bought the Bosch No regrets --------- yet......<G> Good Luck
First we get good- then we get fast !
