Hello everyone. I’m thinking of buying a mosture meter and I’m hoping to get your advice.
Three specific uses come to mind. A>It would be nice to check wood moisture content to see if boards are going to be stable enough to work with. B> I would like to check the moisture level of concrete when deciding what sort of flooring to put down over it. C> I would like to check the moisture content of drywall and veneer plaster to help identify mold and paint adhesion problems.
Would one type of meter handle all these jobs? How much should I expect to pay? Any specific model recommendations?
Any advice or cautions you have are most welcome. Thanks.

Thanks. The mini Ligno DX looks similar to the C model you have, but it specifically mentions using it on drywall too. Have you only used your C on wood?
DougR,
I have the Mini Ligno.
I am doubtful about using it on concrete as the pins have to penetrate to get a good reading.
For every thing else it works great.

Thanks. You are a second vote for the mini Ligno. It looks like the meters that work on concrete are a lot more expensive.

This is the one the guys used to determine that we had to pull out $15K worth of sanded and finished oak due to a little "flood" issue. They seemed to like it.
Thanks. That one looks like it does everything , but it's priced accordingly.
A long story short, a client bought this for me to monitor the leaks in his house. It resides in my truck. Delmhorst BD-2100. My only complaint, is that it must be stored with the battery disconnected, or the meter will drain it dry in just a few weeks.

Thanks. That looks like it does it all, and won't break the bank. When you say it resides in your truck, do you mean that you use it often or that it just collects dust in the truck?
I have it stored in the truck, and it does get used, especially on appointments where water damage is involved. The package I bought includes the hammer pin set up and a case, I believe it was $400 at the time. I've used the hammer probe once, one some oak.
