Hi Steve,
A pole shed has the poles firmly planted in the ground for stability. Cut that sucker off with a chainsaw and you had better have the entire building crossbraced and stabilized before you try it.
Anything is possible, the question is it practical?
How big and how high is this thing anyway?
Gabe
*Is all of the pole building on the neighbors property or just part of it? Either way I think you need to talk to the neighbors as they may have alot to say about anything attached to their property, and as Gabe said, it is definately attached. Where's Andrew when you need him? If somebody built a pole building on my property, I'd probably say thank you and fill it up.JonC
*I've seen it done, but it's not easy. If it's narrow enough, you can jack it up, put beams across it from post to post, and set the beams down on the back of a flat bed truck. I've heard of larger buildings being moved in a similar fashion, but with 4 hay wagons inside to support it. The wagons were hooked in tandem, and pulled with 2 tractors. As a side note, I remember the first time my parents turned me loose with the family car after I turned 16. As I got near the edge of town, I came upon someone who had tried to move a building down the road. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The building had collapsed into a heap around the trailer and had the road blocked. Dad always said that was an omen regarding my future driving..........(-:
*Doesn't seem so far fetchted to me. Even if you have to seperate roof from posts and cut the roof into managable sized sections. Did the builder use a post and beam system with rafters resting on the beam? Or did they double truss to the posts and use purlins? Is it skip or solid sheeted? What kind of shape is the framing in?I could think of lots of uses for a pole building around my place, or even several small ones. Sounds like a good challenge too! - yb
