I think you're going to need a bigger trash can, LOL.
The term "snowballing" comes to mind too.
Hey T,
1/4" sheetrock comes to mind over that mess.
Is it actual plaster over furring or is it rock?
If its plaster than I'd recommend a case of beer and patience.
Be patient and buzzed and dusk masked

In his first interview since the stroke, Ram Dass, 66, spoke with great difficulty about how his brush with death has changed his ideas about aging, and how the recent loss of two old friends, Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, has convinced him that now, more than ever, is the time to ``Be Here Now.''

Hey T
In a lotof ways plaster over lathe is a lot easier than if it was rock peeling.
I'd look into using Structolite as my first coat.
I'll be doing a lot of the same so let me know how she goes.

Elmira,
The east end of the rust belt!
Nothing personal but everything southeast of and including westchester co. should be made into the 51st state.
Upstate tax rate would probably drop 75%.
You guys can have hillary!
Heres what it looks like after all day mudding, 3 batches of easy sand and one coat of lw mud.
dw supplier told me that easy sand would bond good if i wet the plaster first so the moisture wouldn't get pulled out before it set up.
the part I did 4 weeks ago seems to be holdin up fine.Mr T

Graduated from EFA in '74. Lived in West Elmira up off of Coleman Ave., above the "point" (where Church & Water come together). Hurricane Agnes comes to mind.
Folks moved away when I was a freshman in college. Was back for my 20th reunion in '94.
Knew the Hilfiger family, as in Tommy. He was in my older sister's class. He started with a little blue jeans & head gear shop called People's Place in downtown Elmira.

On your "Media Room"
Are you putting in any multiple speaker drops, or linking the media center to other rooms / outdoors?
I'm finishing up a cottage and have wired to-hell-and-gone all possible places I wanted speakers and the supporting equipment. I am now shopping for the parts to "balance the loads" which is high end sound system talk for parallel transformers that match the loads. (keeping 8 ohms 8 ohms)
Beyond that I need the room volume controls, and of course the faceplates for speaker connections. The speaker connections are settled of course at HD or radio shack for locations with one or 2 speakers per box. They have those 3 dollar plastic faceplates with the red and black buttons for speaker wire connections at the point of use.
Best buy has the room volume controls for the pair of speakers in a room.
The high end store has the 300 dollar matching transformer device. Wow. That is more than I was planning to spend on the amplifier.
What I'm looking for is three things. The matching transformer device at a real world price. Speaker connection faceplates that look like they are not chintzy plastic. And finally a double gang faceplate that will allow me to land 12 speakers on the faceplate.(24 wires)
Specialized stuff to be certain but someone has to know where you find this stuff.
Jack of all trades and master of none - you got a problem with that?

It takes one per wire/two per speaker.

The max per single wall plate is 6/ doubles hold up to 12 I think.
This about double of your goal. Keep looking.
A couple 2-3 coats of mud and some paint and .....
VIOLA!!
1 More bookcase and some trim and some more paint.
and it's done!!!Mr T

Those are good options. That and Panduit all have that variety of tombstone plugin for a faceplate. I think I'll probably need to customize a double gang faceplate with some Wago or Phoenix terminals and just solder all of the connections on the back side of the plate. I was just hoping for more of a standard part.
I appreciate the links to the Leviton parts. Those binding posts should work in the kitchen as those will be surface mount speakers. I'm really not fond of the push then insert connections. Just a preference. Posts are better.
I keep hedging to go to BNC's. It would be 100 dollars of parts but the end result would be a really easy thing to connect and reconnect. That would make the 12 hole faceplate work at the main connection point.Jack of all trades and master of none - you got a problem with that?
I was a caddy at the country club in my teens. Played it a lot on Monday mornings. Nice course. I remember when they first built the "new" holes to make room for more parking and another tennis court. I also remember when there was very little on the top of the hill on Hillcrest. Lot more built up now, I'm sure.Bear
There is a new street right off of the beginning of Holley lane, expensive, small lots.

Now I'm building another bookshelf unit for the other side of the room.
And my cheapo speakers won't fit on the shelves, so I'm looking at some bookshelf speakers.
and the stereo is also a cheapo, so I need a receiver, maybe a home theater system.
and for Mothers day I decided to upgrade the trim.
An I'm gonna have to repaint.
And we Ordered a new couch cause the old one was too big.
That's just one room!
I have about 200,000$ worth of ideas for this 80,000$ house!
