Nail gun combo kit for light use
I just read about 50 threads. But, I need to ask:
I need ONE nail gun & compressor for everything. Something that can do single gun framing to finish work. It will be used for homeowner and light side job type work.
Don’t care if it is a kit you can buy. Or, something that can be built up. Just want a durable, reasonably priced set w/ good support for the product.
What would you choose ?
Finally I’d ask is this a realistic concept ?
PS: yes, I have a hammer and can use it : ) — > (but I’m too lazy)

One compressor will do you fine, but one gun for frame to finish doesn't exist.
My bad. I meant framing w/ just one gun @ a time.
Planning on buying 4 items:
-Compressor
-Framing gun
-Finish 15-16ga
-Brad nailer Just want to know which kit, or individual items others like. Oil, oil-less, brands, a specific gun....

Here is what I have and although it was pricey, I am happy as a clam, and it works right, every time
Compressor Thomas 635 HD Oilfree, quiet, and tough. light too.
Flex eel 50 foot hose (and it is not tangle free!)
Framing gun Max 890RH (stick nailer) I found its easier to stuff sticks of nails in my bags than coils)
Finish Hitachi 65MA2 15 guage. What a great gun. added a Swivel to the end of the gun and it ROCKS!
Finish Hitachi 18 Guage from lowes,.. tiny nails good holding power and only 65$.
Exactly the information I'm looking for--->"Here is what I have and although it was pricey, I am happy as a clam, and it works right, every time

HF for finish and brad nailers - got my HF items for $20 and $5 respectively.
Tried one HF framing nailer that was cheap, POS, wont drive nails full into oak or bends'em if you hit a fir knot.
For framing, have a Bostitch N88 RH sequential trigger, it has an attachment to drive joist hanger nails.
Got all my compressors at garage sales, Sears, Ingersol Rand, unknown, but all work well, $75 was most paid for big vertical IR 5HP setup.
I found the compressor on ebay, and it was a good deal (165ish) and got a great deal on the hitachi finish gun (ebay too) but didnt pay attention to the shipping and paid 35 to ship it only about 500 miles.
The framing gun was after alot of research, and a failed adventure with the rigid stick framer from the despot. It was a great design, great case, but the balance was weird, it was not sinking nails consistently and a general let down. So spent way more and picked up an 890RH and love it. I know everyone who has the Hitachi NR83A seem to love them, and cant kill them.
The littlest hitachi was an impulse buy for some trim I needed to do.
You might want to consider a gun that will shoot long framing nails AND short TECO style nails. Bostitch has one, I'm sure others make them too. That will take care of your rough framing, but finish work is a whole different critter.
What kind of finish work are you thining about?

harbor freight , sign up for their email list and you get discount coupons
I paid $125 for 2hp 8gal compressor , 50' air hose , fittings and a brad nailer stapler gun .
Ive read a lot of threads where folks are saying the harbor freight guns have worked well for them , Ive been pleased with mine . Ive been looking for a finish nailer and have settled on their 99 one , I have a 15% of coupon so for 85 I think it will fit my needs
I agree, I've got a HF framing nailer and a roofing nailer. Both have worked out very well for my limited uses.
But I still think a framing gun that can also shoot positive placement nails a better all around approach... one less tool to lose.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA
