Have a job where I’ll be putting GP beaded 4×8 paneling on the ceiling and one wall of a sunroom/porch. I’ll be putting up 1×2’s at 12 oc on the ceiling and the wall is covered in 1/2″ OSB. Will be gluing with liquid nails and nailing.
Question – What would be the best nailgun to install the 1×2’s as well as nailing off the panels? The paneling will be primed and painted.
I have a 15 ga Senco finisher and an 18 ga Senco brad nailer. But, a friend told me that he put up some of this paneling and the strapping using a pneumatic T-nailer, and that you could hang off the strapping it was so secure.
Should I rent a T-nailer or some other type? I’d rather not nail it all by hand if possible, but I want it done right.
Thanks.

Ive put up the 4x8 beaded board using construction adhesive and a pneumatic finish stapler ( 18guage). You can usually pick one up for less than $100. So far havent heard any complaints.

Stain grade or paint? The 1/4" narrow crown stapler is great for most panneling. With 1-1/2" staples it would even do ok with the 1x2s if you staples them a few times.
Ditto on the finish stapler. Give yourself an excuse to pick one up, they're really a great tool. Once you own one you will use it more than you initially think you will.
Framing nailer for the firring strips makes the most sense. Or even a screw gun.
I might use a siding gun on the plybead though.
Certainly not one of those finish nailers you mentioned.

It's a paint grade paneling.
Would staples show on the surface or have to be puttied in and sanded?
staple, caulk, paint
if you're real good, you can staple in the grooves of the beadboard to make it less noticeable.DCS Inc.
