Good morning all,
I’m in the process of building a playhouse. I will be using cedar shakes for the shingles applied over 1/2″ ply. I would like to not use nails that might reach through the ply and possibly into some little tykes head. Do you suppose some sort of construction adhesive would hold up?
Cheers,
Paul

How about installing skip sheathing on top of the plywood? That way the shakes could be nailed off normally.
Why not just "finish" the inside with another piece of plywood after you finish roofing ?
Are we there yet ?

A good possibility. Although I'm really trying to keep the project simple as possible. Already getting caught up in trim ideas.
thicken the roof to accept the nails won't penetrate thru..
The use of skip sheathing, as suggested, is the right way anyway, because you want some air under your wood shakes.
Thanks to all for the replys. Will be going with the skip sheathing and may still finish the inside. "Keep it simple". Heck that already went out the door!Cheers,
Paul
I made a Mailbox that I used Liquid Nails to attach very small shingles on. It has not lost any shingles yet. The hard part was to keep them from slipping around while the glue was still wet.
use pl premium and short staples for that...
old guy coild do it the same way..
Hmmm,Hadn't thought of that and probably the obvious answer. Thanks
