I want to hang Kitchen cabinets on drywalls with steel studs. Cabinets are are hardwood and heavy. They will be used for light storage…no dishes or books, etc. What weight limits do I need to know about? And what is the proper way to fasten them to the wall?

Are the walls sheetrocked yet? If not, frame in 2 x 8 blocking between the studs at the level you want to hang the cabinets from. Then just screw them in.
*Wayne - Don't fasten your cabinets with drywall screws. They are brittle and will snap. Easy enough for you to say you will limit the weight in the cabinets, but what about the next home owner?I'm with drvnputt, you need wood backing. You can use blocking or sheet the wall with MDO and tape it just like sheetrock. - jb

Wayne, If the studs are 20 ga. you need to get 2" to 2-1/2"
self drilling screws, predrill the cabinets, set your clutch on low and drive in slowwly till the clutch bottoms out.DO NOT GO FAST. If the studs are 25 ga. do the same except use sharp point screws with construction adhesive behind and again go slow with the clutch on low.
By the way gang this is the 21st century and you have to use 20 ga. flat strapping for backing on metal studs and mount cabinets with self drilling screws.

It is the 21st century yet.
*We have another year until the 21st century.McFeelys.com has some self-tapping screws specifically for hanging cabs from steel studs. They may have pullout strength data for them as well.
