Kind sirs:
I am a long-time and enthusiastic subscriber to your fine publication.
I am away from my back issues, and need a replacement circular saw – my second Makita hypoid has died. I recall Larry Haun reviewing a Hitachi some months ago. I trust him implicitly, and would like you to provide me with a link to the article so i may purchase the correct saw.
Thank you for your help –

are you sure it wasn't the new bosch?
Maybe - I just recall him saying - "It's the best saw I've ever used"
Him I trust.
I believe his most recent saw review was on Bosch's version of the Skil saw, which as everybody knows Bosch now owns.

the bosch rear handle wormdrive is the
"best saw he ever used..."
i think it was a late spring issue.
just bought a hitachi saw, for hardiplank, blade is kinda obscured, but it works good. (just dashed in and out of home depot in reston, this is bullsh_t!)
listening for the secret.......searching for the sound...
Dear mcdesign,
As some of your other Breaktime pals indicated, I think that the saw you're talking about (the one Larry Haun recommended) was the new rear-handled Bosch worm-drive circular saw, the 1677M. There's some additional information on page 108 of Fine Homebuilding issue 144.
