I am restoring the pair of front doors for my 1872 house. They have a rabbited meeting edged and the old (and broken) lockset has an offset to fit the rabbit. I’ve tried to have it repaired with no luck and I’ve looked at several websites but can’t find an old style lock with a rabbited edge. Does anyone know of a source?
Thanks!

Yeah norse. Attached to the doors leaning up against the wall in my entry. Picked the doors up maybe 10 yrs ago in trade for some work. Pretty cool lockset.
Have you tried any salvage yards? Architectural artifacts sort of place?

They been leaning against the wall in your entry for 10 years?
Maybe you could sell the locks to pay the storage?

Truth is, I have lots of saved it for ten years stuff around, but it's not where I have to trip over it, look at it every day.
Someday my kids can trash it, burn it, or sell it to some collector of good stuff.

Trip over it? what do you take me for?

nah, inside, right by the entry door, tucked in next to the book shelf I salvaged from a mall remodel. Where the hell else would I put it?
ha ha ha.
believe me, if I had a pole barn, and had some heat in it, there's no telling what would be in there............Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I haven't looked in their catalog for a rabbetted lockset, but this is the kind of thing that VanDyke's is likely to have.
