Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Funny how much it looks like the new Nissan truck. Wonder who was stealing from who ?
*Looks like they stole the idea from my Dad - with that little, short box. Back in the 40s he took the rumble seat out of a Model A coupe and built a little pickup box to replace it.
*So whatta want to Haul , people or tools ????
*Looks like another design to skirt the EPA CAFE regulations. Just the opposite of what I need: A 4'x8' bed in the smallest possible envelope with the tightest possible turning radius, to deal with driveways designed for the model T.-- J.S.
*What do I think? Worthless. With a capital "W". Fish or cut bait is what I say. Sam
*First off, I think it's an odd name. It's almost as common up here to know of someone killed in an avalanche as it is common to know someone who's been in a plane crash. Other names they considered: Flight 800, Cancer, and Cholera.Secondly, Now the wannabe park rangers can also be wannabe contractors. The vehicle will see as many 2x4's and CDX on the way to the accounting office as an Excursion sees dirt roads on the way to the soccer field.Lastly, A Yakima rack greatly increases the usefulness of my 1988 Toyota Corrolla. Yes, I get crap from people when I strap a full-size refridgerator, three 55-gallon drums, or 24 sheets of blueboard on top. But it's gone 274,000 miles with only the clutch master cylinder needing replacement, got low 40's in mixed driving (around 35 mpg now), and cost $7,200 new. This yuppiemobile costs 3 times as much, uses 3 times the gas, and won't go nearly as far. -David
*I believe we'll see it around Spring '01 as an '02 model. Nothing but a Chevy Suburban / GMC Yukon XL with some body work. Another hybrid in what is sure to become a big trend (not nearly as big a trend as SUV's, but many SUV buyers realize that they didn't need an SUV, but a wagon. Or a truck.). Expect lots of quality glitches (getting better, GM, but not there yet), but otherwise a generally rugged vehicle. Looks kinda cool, though. At least GM can take a styling risk once in a while (a good one, unlike the current Monte Carlo and Pontiac Aztec. Yuck).
*You can have the Avalanche. I can only imagine the problems it's going to have, with the "midgate" leaking into the passenger compartment, etc.As for styling risks, I'd like to see that Chevy SSR pickup. I wouldn't buy one (trucks are for hauling stuff, not for hauling ass) but it'd be neat to see. I don't think it'd be tuff enuff to be treated like a truck. They're supposed to start producing it, but not until like 2002.It looks better than the Traverse or the Triax - they're just some plain F'UGLY vehicles. You can see 'em here.
