I am converting on outbuilding on our farm place to a shop. The old 60A panel was not grounded and there is no metal water pipe to provide a ground. Would running a 4/0 ground wire from the new 200A breaker panel to an outdoor ground rod provide the proper grounding? Should the ground wire remain bare outside of the panel or does it need to run in conduit? Thanks for your help.
