I recall reading a post on manuals compiled durring the construction of new homes including photos and maintenance tips, but I don’t recall who posted it and I am finding nothing conducting a search of the site. Does anybody know of such a thing? Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Can't recall a thread for that, although you can search the archives to see if there is anything. Also, see FHB, issue #114, February/March 1998, page 74. It's an article about owner's manuals for homes.
