New Installation of Slate roof and Temperature

Hello All,
I am in the process of building a new house. Part of the structure will have a slate roof installed. The client has read online that slate shouldn’t be installed below 40°F as it get brittle.
I’ve spoken with the roofing contractor who in turn has spoken with their supplier and have been told this isn’t a concern, however Google says it is.
Does anyone have any experience that can shed some light here?
Thank you
Brian

From my experience, installing slate below 40°F can be done if handled carefully. The main concern is that slate can become more brittle in colder temps, especially if it’s mishandled or dropped. The key is making sure the contractor handles the tiles gently and uses proper tools to avoid cracking. It’s also important to avoid wet or icy conditions during installation, as that can make things riskier. If your contractor is experienced with cold-weather installs, it should be fine. But if you’re worried, waiting for a warmer day might give some peace of mind. Hope this helps: https://www.concretesrichmondva.com/
