I have a concrete patio that extends from my faded red brick house all the way around my inground pool. Its twenty years old, it has done all its settling and cracking but its UGLY. I started to use flat feildstone with mortar joints but was unhappy with the look. Im looking for any tips on what else to use that would be economical, good looking, be placed over the existing patio, fairly easy and not conflict with the red brick on the house. Some background info-the area is flat and pitched where neccesary, the pool has a 3.5 inch lip to accomdate any new patio. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

There's a whole variety of materials that go over concrete. One to look at is the polymer overlays. Put that into Google and you'll mind many companies and many pictures for a starting point.
*There are lots of cast concrete pavers in many shades. They go together easily. My own preference would be natural brick, cobblestones, fieldstones or ashlar but there lots of options out there. What sort of character are you looking for?Mike
*In the future, I'd like to do the same thing. We have an old concrete patio. Not cracked, but ugly. I was told that it would perhaps be best to tear up the old concrete before putting anything new down. Is that true, or is it completely fine to put something on top of it?
