Hello Everyone. I’m introducing myself as a new member to this and any other forums. I have thoroughly enjoyed many of the discussions over the past few weeks and hope to join in in the near future.
I have been practicing the art of carpentry for ten years now, starting not long after high school, and have been self employed for almost two years.
My question is regarding trade organizations and how many of you are involved in them. I am considering, in the next few years, trying to start a small one in our area. I have been involved in a larger organization with my previos employer, but that one was very “political”. More of a ‘who you know, not what you know’ type thing. Any input would be beneficial!

Thanks for the replies. You all have pretty much answered my question(s) about the subject. I figured if it was a "necessary" thing, it might be worth pursuing. I have not had any problem so far finding work, so that isn't an issue.
Thanks again.
