I was wondering what experience anyone had with the new trim board matl.
that seem to be showing up. Either the wood fiber composite materials or the urethane or pvc. I want to try some for exterior trim here in upstate NY but wanted some insight as to paint ability etc. and if they are worth the cost over per-primed pine. Thanks.
*Used choicetrim on my house on the advice of a friend who uses it daily. Onec you get used to it, you'll throw rocks at the stuff that passes for trim/show boards now. It's pre-primed, uniform size, doesn't move or twist, and comes in 4/4 and 5/4, and up to 12" width. Takes paint nice too.
*There are always new products showing up, some good, some not so good. GP Primetrim seems to be pretty good stuff. We just used a foam type crown/ dental moulding on a job, seemed ok, especially for an area where it won't likely get abused. The problem was that the back side wasn't uniform which made cutting miters a pain.New products need to be evaluated individually. Name a specific product, and you will be more likely to get an informed response.Steve

*Lots of preprimed fingerjointed cedar used here...It needs to be kept dry till used, reprimed and or finished with alkyds and oils verses latex which will bleed tannins...the SW solid oil stain covers well and I would think Mike has his favorite paints to add...Cabots and Ben-Moore...I may try the primetrim (my sample looks OK)...and the cementboard tricks...It's all expensive...near the stream,aj
