Got a new tub-shower hook-up from HDepot and hooked it up all ok with H and C coming in and shower going up and tub-spout down. But when I tested it I found that there is only a single action to the unit, which is the turning of the one central knob. I.e., there is no push to lessen flow/pull to increase flow. So … the deal is that you turn it counterclockwise and it comes on cold and slow … then as you turn it more it increases in flow and in temperature. In other words you can’t have a trickle of warm or hot … or a strong flow of cold. Am I missing something here??? or is this just about the weirdest set up around? ((The HD guy handed it to me as “a good one” … wish I had known more and had chosen another.))
Has anyone had any experience with a faucet set-up like this????
Thanks in advance…

Hotels seem to like those things, I don't know why. Can't imagine anyone using them by choice so maybe it'sa govm'nt faucet? Joe H
*aaron. was the faucet a kohler? i had a kohler faucet which had a stop inside that gave us the same problem. it ended up being replaced ( the whole cartridge ) and worked well. something was goofy in denmark, i mean in the faucet. however it may be hard to convince one of the trained professionals. if it was a real plumbing supply you wouldn't have any problem......best of luck to ya

you have a delta cheaper model faucet . it is to meet new anti scalding laws. the better models have volume and tem control seperatly

Just one of the multitude of reasons that I hate single lever faucets!
I think there are seperate anti-scalding valves that can be attached to the supply lines?
*just one of the multitude of reasons I hate HD.

thanks for the feedback, everyone.
I went out to the local SOURCE for right-on plumbing info and asked them if they'd ever heard of such a thing. they said that Moen and Delta and a lot of the big companie's are making one or two of their shower install kits that way .. it's a way to meet code on anti scalding (as someone mentioned here). So ... I dont like it but it's already in and even though I haven't covered it yet I already totally cut it out once and re-suetted it back in so I'm just gonna leave it. Shows ta go me I shoulda done my research before buying .. it was a stupid impulse buy that eventing...
Oh well ..
thanks again --
Aaron.
