Just sent an email to Black & Decker that I will no longer be purchasing any of their products due to their closing of the DeWalt plant. They responded that they sold the manufacturing to Applica which I suspect is a wholly owned subsiderary of B&D. I think the only way for upper management to realize their error is a steep decline in sales, maybe they will realize where their customers live.

Don't stop with B & D. The pine wood in those windows you bought, probably shipped from Chile, your pickup truck's radio giving you the news about plant closings was likely assembled in Mexico, and the lumber I am framing with next week came from Austria and Canada. My jointer is Tiawanese, and so is my table saw. I guess we are all getting pretty diversified. Better stock up on some U.S.-made copy paper for printing those letters.
Bawahahaha!!!!... yea go buy the proprietary Royobi made in China just for home depot and while you're at it pick up some glacier bay items instead of price pfister while you're at it. Depot cost B&D 50 million dropping the line for their chinese junk YOU CAN'T GET PARTS FOR! Then continue to complain while companies leave to be competitive. Maybe it's the suppliers you should stop buying from who promote cheap crap made in china which they make more money on.
Boycotting Chinese crap is one I'll go along with.
Try going to Walmart and walking out without something from China!
HA!.
Excellence is its own reward!
Piffin,
I sometimes buy my Marlboro's from Walmart. No chinese connection at all! ;-)

Durable Electrical Metal Factory, Ltd., the Company's wholly-owned manufacturing operation located in the People's Republic of China, provides Applica Incorporated with a low-cost manufacturing source for its Black & Decker, Windmere and private-label products. The Company also operates a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Queretaro, Mexico, which manufactures Black & Decker labeled for distribution to both North America and Latin America.
"No more B & D for me."
Sounded like you were quitting your job. Or changing your sexual stylings.
Then I find out it's just another thread lamenting another industry moving to find people who will work for 75 cents a day and enjoy the beatings. Disappointed.

That's kinda what I was thinking.
I don't get into that B&D or S&M stuff.Being in the Beatles is like being an astronaut who has been to the moon. What do you do with the rest of your life? [Paul McCartney]
S&M.. Skill and Makita ?Mike
It's O.k. to think out of the box, Just don't walk off of the plank!
