Moved into a mid-70’s built ‘factory’ (not modular but more likely pre-fab) house in early Nov.
Surprised to find floor joists set onto 1/2″ plywood atop foundation walls with no visible bolts securing floor / walls to foundation.
Until warmer weather arrives I can’t pull siding / sheathing away to investigate whether some other method of securing rim joists to foundation was used. Siding’s lapped horizontal hardboard, not sure what sheating may have been used but OSB is visible as roof sheathing in attic.
What were/are some accepted alternate techniques for securing off-site built wood-frame walls to a poured foundation?

A lot of people believe gravity will hold it in place. That works until the wind blows, water rises or the ground shakes.
Hate to say it, but, Simpson
I'm sure at this point your options may be limited to using some sort of simpson product.
Easy solution MIGHT be a twist strap secured to joist and foundation evey so often. Thinking 4 ft on center.
Or PIA solution, as you mentioned remove siding and use straps out side bolted to foundation and connected to the structure.
Not an engineer, so take this advice as a jumping offf point,
Local building department may be willing to save you the engineering costs.
Good luck

I'm guessing there are some straps on the outside that you can't see. I'd be surprised if anyone would want the liability of not having a house fastened down.
Yeah, likely being a prefab they had some odd way of doing the tiedown that isn't obvious.
That'd be my expectation too....
I've proven to myself time & again though when I a$$-u-me something more often than not I end up at the a$$ end of the next conversation between u and me.
Will update this thread once I have more pertinent info, maybe photos.
