Not Hardie, not asbestos: what?
Customer has some missing exterior siding, remaining stuff is asbestos. His existing is 1’x2′ exposure. He needs to replace what’s missing.
James Hardie does not have the exposure I need according to what is on their web site.
Any ideas?

I don't know of anything that is properly sized to replace asbestos shingles. I also have no idea how one might properly replace one even if there were products available. The shingles that are still on the house are so brittle that there is little hope of them not breaking.
Like you, I'm a handyman. And when anyone asks me to do anything with asbestos shingles, I politely refuse. The risks are just way too high.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
Hey buddy, there are a number of used mat'l guys here in Van. They might have something, or look for a similar place being demo'ed ,cheers,Philter.
Check with your local lumberyard(s) if you haven't.
The substitute shingles are available here and have been for years. Our yard only stocks the 24" length so if you need shorter, you cut them. Both straight or wavy edge available.
About $90 a bundle here. 18 shingles to the bundle.
Might be a Globe product. Can't remember for sure.
Edit: A quickie search = asbestos siding shingle replacement ..turned up this as one of many hits

Georgia Pacific makes the shingle that's sold around here. Yep, pricey, but it's mineral fiber and fairly easy to work. We've got a town full of late '50's asbestos sided homes. All the local family lumberyards have a pallet full out front - the wavy bottom and the straight bottom. Best way to work out the old, broken ones is with a hacksaw blade slipped behind.
