I have a problem with the oak hardwood floors on a three year old lake house. The cup and peak during the cooling season. I suspect that moisture in the crawlspace is to blame. Last year we installed more vents. Also plastic was added to cover some areas of soil that had been uncovered. The problem seems to be slightly better but this year was an exceptional drought. Any thoughts?

What is the cut of the oak?
(plain sawn tends to cup more than quarter or rift)
What is the width of the oak?
(wider boards tend to cup easily)
What is the mil thickness of the plastic (need 8 mil for effective vapor barrier)?
Why are you allowing summer moisture into the crawl space?

The Oak is random length 3" wide plain sawn. Vapor Barrier is 8 mil black plastic. As for moisture any recommendations for keeping it out are appreciated. Would condensation on the ductwork be a symptom or cause of excessive moisture? Since I am a midwestern transplant to the south this is all new to me.
close the vents - they are bringing in damp air. Then install a dehumidifier in the crawlspace
