I’m about to remodel the bath in our 1929 house. I think the cast iron vents are in good shape, but as long as I’m in there, should I replace them with PVC? I remember seeing some older houses where the stacks had holes rotted in them.

Stack vents should last a long time and not something to mess with if they are in good condition. The waste on the other hand tend to go bad more often. You can replace the waste side with PVC and "Fernco" connectors. Be sure to support the stack to keep it from moving. Good Luck.
