i’m assuming that i am not the only person this has happened to.
i went to leave for work today.
the van wouldn’t start!!!
so after a couple of hours with the AA man its going to get towed to the shop.
lord knows how long its going to be there for.
some sort of electrical fault. maybe in the ecu.
so i’m waiting for the tow truck and have sorted out a hire van for later on today but i,m still sat at home doing not much.
what are you supposed to do when this stuff happens
?????

One of the reasons that I like to play with restoring old trucks... always try to have one of my projects in running condition for emergency backup use.....just last week, had to run around in a 49 ford flatbed for a few days, while my work truck got some paint slathered on at the body shop.
been there done that
crawl out of bed, mid january, minus 20, starter motor dead
walk to local parts guy at 8, only 2 blocks fortunately, carry home new starter
crawl under van in snow, wrenches in hand, change starter
jump in truck, go to work
gotta do whatcha gotta do
I usually just lay on the couch and take a nap.
I can take a hint.....

Last Monday, picked up the little guy at school at 5:30; stopped for gas at a decent price (roughly $1.50 US /gal); grabbed the receipt (used the "easy-pay key") and jumped in the truck, turned the key, turns over but won't catch; short in the fuel pump; left it at the staion over-night and get it towed first thing Tuesday; all day + about US$400 later, I'm back on the road.
