Oscillating Multi Tool For Bathtub Caulk Removal
I have to remove and replace the caulk at the joint between the bathtub and tile wall. I have used a utility knife/razor in the past and just bought a plastic Hyde tool. I’ve also seen info on using an oscillating multi tool. Some use a wide scraper blade and some use a more pointed triangular caulk/sealant removal blade.
Any experience doing this with a multi tool and which blade?

No experience with the multitool scraping but I've pondered it. What type of caulk involved is important but I've used a window scraper fitted with single edge razor blade with good results.
oldhand, Thank you for your reply.
Silicone caulk. Most of the info I have seen when working around the tub lip is to put down some type of tape to prevent the tool from scraping the porcelain. I can see using the oscillating multitool when removing grout from this joint. The tool manufacturers probably figured they should provide a blade for caulk removal too. I'll probably skip the oscillating multi tool and use a combination of heat, to soften the caulk, and a razor and/or the Hyde tool.
Once, about 20 years ago, I found a sort cream that worked great on silicone caulk -- spread it on, wait maybe 20 minutes, and just peel the caulk out. Haven't seen is since, though.
