I trimmed my front entrance door with some ipe left over from a deck job. Can anyone recomend a primer and paint for this dense, resinous wood?

Hi Mike,
No specific recommendations here, but some info. I made a threshold out of some leftover ipe and coated it with spar varnish. The first coat took three days to cure hard enough to sand, probably because of the resins, but the next coat dried in 8 hours, as did the third. This may occur with any oil-base product, including primers, so maybe do tests on scrap?
