Hello
I need to paint the outside of my house. I did it 7 years ago – it’s time again. I used BM oil base paint followed by BM exterior finish coat. Cedar ribbed shingles – no heavy mold – no peeling paint presently. The house is not too high – low ranch –
How do I prep for new paint. Do I need to power wash ? or can I just wash the painted surface with a nylon brush and TSP or something like that.
I rather not rent a powerwasher – any suggestions please – Thank You,
SA

That's a tough surface to try and clean with a brush. You can do it but you'll never get every nook and cranny like you would with a pressure washer. By the time you're done with the brush the $50.00 it would cost you to rent a pressure washer will look real cheap. The TSP running down the brush handle all day will just about take your fingerprints off too so make sure to wear good gloves with cuffs if you brush.
Keep the PW off the cedar shingles.
