Painting a bathroom – mildew resistant paint a must?
I am now painting my bathroom.
1) I purchased a mildew resistant paint for the bathroom
2) The original paint underneath seems to be a glossy, possibly oiled-based paint,
3) I have never seen any mold or mildew in the bathroom since I moved in.
4) There is no intake fan in the bathroom.
Question:
I would like to paint the room with an Solvent based WHITE primer first. When that is complete, (and dries) I want to leave the ceiling white and paint the walls with the mildew resistant paint. I am not sure if I should proceed because the solvent based primer is not mildew resistant.
Thoughts are appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about the primer, so long as the paint is mildew-resistant. But if you are worried, you can purchase (from a "real" paint store) a mildewcide to mix into the primer.
Mildewicide in or added to paint only lasts a short time. You are better off to install a good exhaust fan and use it, no lasting moisture, no mildew, no fogged up mirror, no moisture running down the walls. No paint will keep mildew from growing if the conditions are right, don't let the conditions be right. Advice from a father of two teenage girls.
I was hoping to find something portable for the bathroom. I really don't relish drilling through plaster into the ceiling to connect up the power to run the fan. That is beyond my DIY skills.
The person that lived there before me didn't have any mildew problems it seems, but I don't know if they left the window open quite a bit to combat this.
