Hi! Can anyone make a recommendation as to what type of paint to use for painting a floor. My supply store has both latex and “oil-base” floor paint and assures me both are good. Instinct tells me the latex will be useless for a floor. Anyone have any experience with this? The paint is going over some 2×6 t&g boards in a new construction (it will be the floor to the loft in a rustic camp. The kids will be using it to play and sleep in.)Thanks in advance!

Jim-
Look for a paint specifically designed for the floor. Typically when floor I go with an epoxy finish. Benajamin Moore make a floor paint I've real good luck with on a few exterior T&G porch floors. I've used both the oil, and latex based with good success. Typically I use the oil based, unless fumes are a big concern. These seem to hold up to rocking shairs, and such being dragged a cross the floor.
Good luck.
*Actually latex does just fine as a floor paint. But, whatever you put down will have to be touched up from time to time. Those kids will see to that! So, the paint with the lessser fumes, fastest drying and easiest cleanup will turn out to be the best in the long run.
*Jim - How about Benjamin Moore's polyurethane deck enamel? Holds up outside really well - I would think it would do even better inside. You'll need to put grit additive in it, though, like most deck enamels it's slippery, especially when wet.Jeff
*I recommend you think two or three times before using something like enamel! This is in a loft. So either there is the risk of squirting kids onto the main floor. Or, there is a rough surface that is hard on their tender skins. No matter how tempted we might be neither is acceptable in my view.
*Jeff- This is the stuff I was talking about. I spaced on the name though. I have had great results with it though
