hi ,still trying to paint my basement ceiling room about 13 by 15, not having very much luck getting a smooth finish on the ceiling, have tried three diff paints and still end up with sploches. Have painted two ceiling sin smaller rooms and the stair well with no problem. Could my problem be that the house is so dry that I am not getting the time I would usually have to blend in the paint?
Thanks Dan

Try adding some floetrol to your paint. It is a paint conditioner sold in most decent paint stores- it really helps paint apply much smoother and more evenly.
Not sure what you mean by sploches, but is it possible the surface of the drywall was "contaminated" by something, causing the paint to act strangely?...Buic
Might try using a different nap roller. I would use a 1/2" cover. Preferably 50% lambskin and 50% polyester. This will hold more paint and apply more evenly. Don't try stretching the paint out of your cover. Dip before the roller is out of paint and you will have better results.
oil based or latex?
Use any sealers?
