What is the average now-a-days for painting per square foot? Whether it’s interior or exterior. I’m used to painting by the room. I generally do recoats,one two or three rooms at a time, but am getting into new construction. Just curious as to what others are charging.

Go to your bookstore and look at craftsman publishings new construction costs (about $40 if you want to take it home) But... I find it useful for lots of "newish" tasks that come up.Being an experienced painter you will surely see the things you need to alter to your own experiences ( material loss while spraying ) represented there is too low (I think) sooo... good luck pilgrim...
Anywhere from $1.50 to $3.50 /sq ft for interior work, depending on the amount of trim, ceiling heights, etc. This is with very little stain work, and is also highly dependent on the quality of the job. Painter supplies materials. Since it looks good from your house, I'd say $1.50 - sorry, but I absolutely hate that saying...
