I recently bought the Paslode Cordless Framing Nailer and am very disappointed. It works fine with smaller nails and even the 3 1/4″ when going thru one 2X into the end of another. It does not, however, go thru two 2X’s side by side (headers, cripples, etc.), leaving the head sticking out about 1/4″. Is this as much as I can expect from this nailer, or do I (hopefully) have a bad one?
Thank you.

We own two of these little gems. We have the bright orange ones and they both seem to perform about the same. In concept, this is a great idea for a tool but in reality the only thing we use them for are pickup, plumb and line and once in while for stacking. I feel Paslode needs to work on giving them more nail driving power. We frame with green douglas fir out here on the west coast and usually they sink the nails pretty well. If the wood has dried out or if we are working with Microllams and such they leave the nails out at least a quarter of an inch and then some. Most of my guys prefer to use our Hitachi NR-83A nailers for the great majority of our work.
*Hello, These tools work great for the applications that have been stated. The problem that it may have is not enough power for the pressure treated applications. It generates about 90P.S.I of pressure but disintegrates down as the tool is fired. The tool is not designed to take away all the applications of a pneumatic tool, but a Hitachi tool come on. Try a Speed Frame tool, now that is power and it also has the capability of doing what the NR83 and NR90 can do!!
*Alex, I'm old and therefore confused easily. Not to mention new to this... enlighten me."a Hitachi tool come on"Is that a phrase indicating your overwheming desire FOR a Hitachi or AGAINST a Hitachi frame gun?
*Well, I like American made product. The Hitachi tool is just heavy and it has way to many components and it makes the tool harder to repair. Now this new SpeedFrame tool by Paslode is awesome,it is a two in one feature. I did some research and it is being introduced in Ca, but it will eventually make it's way around the states. So,my statement would be against.
*Alex are you employed by Paslode or do you just hate the japs.
*Alex, I too am old, hell, I'm a grandpa! But I am interested in the "speedframe". I've never heard of it and am soon to be purchasing at least one new framer, probably two and maybe three.I currently have and use the latest Paslode. I own four paslodes, several sencos and one duofast. The paslodes are easily the best in many ways.I also own an Impulse framer. We never use it, except as a last resort. It tends to heat up and quit firing even during our "moderate" use situations. It could never work for us in our normal productions capacities.I personally would hand pound rather than use that orange beast all day. And I know that I could out produce it! Remember the lesson of the tortoise and the hare. I'm all tortoise!Blue
*Harvey, what is your deal do you have a question in refrence to our conversation or are you just trying to stir up trouble.Anyways,Blue eyez, the cordless tool is an outstanding technology but it states right on the boxes that it is not recommended for pressure treated applications. As for that SpeedFrame tool I just know about it because my brother-in-law has it and came down for the weekend from Ca. and WOW! he was right, lighter, faster, less parts, and even fires the common nails without having to modify or purchase a new tool.Paslode has made an oustanding tool!
*I'm game for the new speedframe. I'll check my supplier pronto.blue
