Hi Folks,
I am thinking about getting a finish nailer set up and the Paslode 250 looks like the best bet. The dealer said that you can get a conversion kit to make it use 14g nails for light framing use. Has anyone tried this? I have decided against air as I am doing alot of small jobs remodeling on older houses where space is at a premium.

never heard of that before but I can tell you that I don't miss dragging a compressor to the job site anymore.

If the dealer says so, it must be true
gulp
but I wonder how they define "light framing"
The fuel cell for th eframer is carbuerated to shoot about 1200 times while the yellow on the trim gum is carbuerated to shoot around 4000 times. That means the fuel used for powering the stroke is over three times as much in the framer. The size of the piston and cylinder is greater also in the framer. So count me dubious about the trim gun being able to handle anything larger than a 2" nail in softwood
but if the dealer says so...

Forever the skeptic eh? (:-) Hey I use my 16ga for framing, just use 25 nails per connection. Just kidding.

If its the gun that takes the long cartridge then why would it matter.
I didn't think the gun had anything to do with the amount of gas that was used, I thought that it was the canister? Or maybe upon re-reading your post that's not what your saying?
I know that when I had the finish gun that takes the long cartridge all I had to do was change the tops on the red cartridge to a yellow one and vise versa for the framer.

same canister, same gas. it is the amt of gas disbursed from the different colour carbuerators.

A few UK sites seem to offer this "Paslode conversion Kit", and paslode nails to 2" in this 14g size. My interest is that if I could use it to fix softwood flooring it would save on the cost of both the finish and framing gun for a project.
