Hi.
I’m replacing a patio door that leads out to my deck but am not sure of the proper way to complete the needed repairs around the exterior stucco that surrounds the patio door opening.
Especially right below the doors’ threshold there is an old board nailed directly to the rim board. I want to remove that old rotted board and then resurface that by applying stucco. Once I take out the old patio sliders and remove that board how do I properly flash all of this before applying the stucco?
I can’t seem to find a good cross-section view of a flashing detail with a stucco exterior. Everything I see in print and on-line always seems to address houses with siding. There is not much on showing stucco sided houses. I just want to do this properly.
My biggest question is how do I slip flashing under the old stucco? Do I try to pry up slightly the old stucco mesh somehow and slip flashing under that? Or do I just caulk the crap out of it then stucco over that?
