Will be installing a 8′ Pella bay window this weekend and I was wondering if there are any tricks to getting the job done right. This will be my first bay install but have done lots of anderson windows. Will the cables hold the weight over time or should I look at some sort of underwindow support? The window will be going into a remodel project and it is rough framed in the old windows place.

Source control, ventilation, and filtration are the keys to healthy indoor air quality. Dehumidification is important too.

My run down...
Cables are ok but I supplement with supports underneath. What I use depends upon the siding on the house, but mitered 2x6's work well if run from the outside of the bay to some convenient point against the house- like the band joist or studs. This is especially important if people are going to use the window as a seat.
I always insulate under the window because they get cold. However, don't forget to leave space for getting to the adjusting nuts, should the cables stretch or loosen. Who knows if these will ever actually be used but I leave the access anyway. Rigid foam works pretty well for insulation, then I cover it with plywood and drill holes for access with a deep socket.
If you build a roof for the bay, look around for articles on the proper way to do it. Aesthetically, it makes a difference to get the hips right. If you are putting it under a large eve on an old ranch or something, then that isn't an issue.
Good luck.
There's a thread floating around here just now on this very topic. I will try to find it for you.
