We are bumping out a kitchen wall and are using a pier and grade beam foundation. The piers are twelve inches in diameter and 10 feet deep. We will be pouring three of them. The beam will be 24feet long X 24 inches high X 10 inches thick. Since this will come to less than 5 yards of concrete we could pour both the piers and the beam from the same truck load.
My question is: Is there any downside to pouring the beam at the same time as the piers?

none that I can think of, pros outweigh cons here. the only possible downside might be visual appearance, maybe even some hairline cracks, but I don't think it effects the structural strength.
