I recently bought a 1759 center chimney colonial that I am slowly renovating. So far it’s been fun, but I’m having trouble finding any literature/video/web sites that help to explain/illustrate how to make improvements on a home that is post and beam construction and plank framed. I’m using the phrase “plank framed” only because the one book I found that did reference my type of house called it a plank framed house. In case my terminology is wrong, let me explain it this way. On the external side of the posts and beams, very large planks run from the floor to the ceiling. On the external side of the planks, the siding is attached. On the internal side of these planks, plaster and lath is attached.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
