Have a house, circa 1910. Galvaniized water supply lines. Basement with laundry, water heater, gravity furnace, on 1st floor kitchen sink and bathroom. Cast Iron DWV.
Coffe coming out of pipes, poor drainage. Would like to remodel bath, but would appreciate suggestions on what a renovation should consist of and how much it should cost. Would prefer CPVC as house is vacant and not in best part of town. Don’t want copper clipped for minimal value.
Any ideas on cost of such a renovation. House is in Syracuse, New York area.
Any plumbers in this area?
Thanks!

If you don't have a problem with the cast iron, save it. Get rid of all the galv.that you can, use pvc to tie into the existing cast iron. CPVC for water lines is fine, easy to work with and cheap. Costs are local. Lots of luck.
Kinda brings to mind the recommendation of a (slightly disreputable) contractor friend of my dad's when my dad bought an old farmhouse: "Insure it, then burn it."
