Planning a retro fit bathroom project in an existing basement that will involve running a sidewall vent to properly vent the fixtures (shower/sink/toilet). The terminated vent (or vents, might run two) will simply be a 2″ pvc pipe (coming out of the outside wall) connected to a (2″) 90 degree pvc fitting. The IRC states that side wall vents require a screen or other bird and rodent protection. I’ve never seen any such product that attaches nicely to pvc that has any type of screening built in like that.
Has anyone seen any type of screen product specifically made for sidewall vents that attach to pvc?
Thanks in advance, Mike

I can't believe that side wall vents are legal, but that's why I don't deal with the IRC, & only deal with the UPC.
But anyway, you can cut a slightly larger circle of mesh than the OD of the pipe, force into cup fitting.
Then cut a very short piece of pipe & glue into cup.

Thanks for the tip Bill.
If I don't run the vent through the wall, then there's two choices, either AAV's (air admittance valves) or attaching to the main stack, I believe that method is called "reventing". I just figured going out the sidewall was easiest since it's fairly close.
I would not use a AAV unless I had no other options, [they are not true vents]. The best hook-up is to tie a secondary vent into the main stack vent or vent stack, your call. If you decide to use the side-wall vent one way is to buy a piece of metal screening, wrap it around the discharge of the vent and secure with a large hose clamp. Where I work they don't allow them, so I'm sure someone has a better idea. Lots of luck......................................

Thanks for the feedback guys.
There are no windows down there since it's a "mostly" underground basement.
It's hard to believe that nobody makes something specific for this. Now-a-days there seems to be a product/tool for almost anything you want to do.
Any windows in that side wall?
