I have an 1959 home with pocket doors that need refinishing. I have not removed any of the trim. I want to take the doors down to refinsh. My question: What do I have to remove/do to at least reveal the entire door and then take it down? Thanks for the help.

While no home can be completely fireproof, implementing these fire-resistant details can increase resilience.

remove the jams and remove the doors as needed
pocket doors are an aberration and a pain
caulking is not a piece of trim
it'll depend on the type of hardware and it's access profile.
I install Johnson hardware and I put the header casing and jamb liner in with a couple small screws to make it easy to get at later. I still use vinyl spackle over the screw so You have to look for a shadow line.
Occasionally, I can get a door off withoiut removing the trim. With these modern Johnsons, a nylon lever locks the atachment above and you can reach it to release it with a screwdriver or other small tool.
Some of the hardware from a hundred years ago requires removing a split jamb at the side where the door pockets into the wall to get at the releases and adjustments.
in '59 I don't know.
But I'll bet the local shop class could have fun with it.
