Hello Everyone-
I have a couple pocket hole jig questions. It appears the Kreg’s K2000PP is the most popular. I was wondering if anyone has used Craftsmanship jig or the Kreg M-2XXX K2.
I am looking for a comparsion of K2000PP vs. M-2XXX K2 vs. Craftsman (Sears item #00929133000)
THANKS.

Go with the Kreg. They have a kit for around $130.00 that has everything you need. I've had mine for a couple years (and several hundred holes) and can't complain. Don't skimp on the screws, get good quality ones.
K-2000 PP....without a doubt. Bought mine years ago before I was set up for cabinetry work....figured it would be adequate for the one project I was doing at the time. I`ve found myself using it more often than I had ever imagined over the years.
Load up on screws....ya never wanna be caught short.

KREGG all the way! I have two ( One is a loaner ) both are kregg. As another said, I bought my first one to assist in cabinet building ( ha! assist! It took over! ) then found lots of ways to use it in various projects. Works real nice to attach extension jambs along with an extension to the screwgun. Be sure to get both course and fine thread screws for soft and hardwoods. I stopped buying from the big box stores and have been real happy with McFeeleys mail order screws. I do have one question to the readers of this post though. When I work with cherry the 2 screws per rail/style tend to split the ends...any suggestions to stop this other than one screwing it or wider rails ( mine are at least 1 1/2 " wide) ? I would love to have this little conundrum solved!

industry standard is 1 5/8 rails on FF'sIf you have splitting in cherry, I'd skip a screw at the end..it's not needed once the FF is on the box.

As long as you use some glue, I'd go with one screw. I know the end grain to edge grain bond isn't the best, but it's better than nothing. As Sphere mentioned, try a little wider piece of stock. Or try a narrow spacing for the holes and use two.
pocket holes need to less than the diameter of a quarter, otherwise the change that falls out will be less than a cup of coffee costs, and we NEED our coffee..
kreg,,all the way.
