i’m putting a walkout porch off of a 2nd floor master bedroom. the hip roof we’re cutting into is above a 1st floor living space. clearly, waterproofing, drainage and insulating the first floor are huge considerations in this project. FH#112 had a 2 page article on self adhering bituminous membranes for this application. has anybody out there used this stuff? with success?
the porch will only be about 70-80 square feet . the weather is connecticut- sweltering summer, freezing/ thawing winters.
any advice and/or help on any aspect of this project would be greatly appreciated!
thanks, jtd8

This may be heresy in these parts, but...... the September issue of JLC had an article on repairing cantilevered balconies, which talked about a product called Life Deck, which is a cementitious, reinforced waterproofing system designed to go over plywood decks. I've never tried this product but it might be worth a look.
