I am about to embark on a project to restore the porch on our very old house. It is screened in, with a near flat roof. There are seven posts or pillars that I have yet to inspect closely, but they appear to be set on solid footings with brickwork above ground. There are some structural problems that will be resolved when the flooring is removed. Question is simple. Regardless of what I find, what is the correct way to reinstall the floor? Under the pillars, which is what it looks like I have, or install a treated plate under the pillar and dress the flooring out around it. Putting the flooring under the pillar seems very short sighted!

Question seems more simple to you than to me. Can you detail in order from bottom to top what is where?
Or post a photo after you open it all up?
I'm not sure if the post continues all the way from brick pillar under porch through flor framing and on up to the roof or something else.
